Employee Spotlight on Leslie Faelnar

I vividly remember two things about my first day at Puget Sound Orthopaedics.  1. I was so nervous to join a new team that I thought I might pass out.  2. Just when I started to feel like I was in way over my head, I received a few kind words of encouragement that confirmed I had made the right choice (I’ve been here for over 8 years now).  Those kind words came from Lakewood Front Office Supervisor, Leslie Faelnar.

Leslie has been with PSO for nearly 19 years!  When asked what has changed since she first started, Leslie’s response was, “Everything.”  She recalls when the first office had “only 3 providers, paper charts and staff under 20 employees. Now we have 26 providers, 3 locations with ASC and MRI, EMR, Self-Check-in Kiosks and over 100 staff.”

Over the course of her employment, Leslie has been instrumental in the implementation of numerous new processes and procedures, software upgrades and policies.  Leslie spends her work week providing excellent customer service to patients and mentoring Front Office staff members. “PSO has helped with my career development by providing great training opportunities such as leadership classes and leadership books to read.  The [employees on the]  Leadership team are great mentors who support and encourage you every day to be the best that you can be.”

When she’s not supporting Front Office staff or assisting patients at PSO, Leslie enjoys spending time with her family, watching the Filipino Channel and scrapbooking.  If she could do the job of another PSO employee for one day, Leslie would want to work in X-ray!

As she looks back on the past 18.5 years, Leslie remembers her proudest moment at PSO, “reaching my 15 years of employment.  Time flies when you are having fun!”
