Lakewood Surgery Center Hosts Their 3rd Annual Open House

Last week, in celebration of National Ambulatory Surgery Center Week, Puget Sound Orthopaedics and the Lakewood Surgery Center hosted their 3rd annual Open House and Health Fair.  We opened our doors to the community and offered refreshments, tours of the surgery center/operating rooms, as well as door prizes and a chance to connect with our fantastic staff and local business partners.  There were fun games and multiple opportunities for patients and other locals to network and learn about the amazing medical services offered in our community.

All attendees had the opportunity to meet and learn about the services offered by our partners in patient care:

  • Arthrex
  • MVP Physical Therapy
  • American Cancer Society
  • Center for Diagnostic Imaging
  • NW Sports Physical Therapy
  • Pacific Medical
  • Stryker
  • Peoples Injury Network Northwest

“What an awesome way to meet members of our community,” said BreAnn Jordan, the LSC Manager. “We had a great time playing games and giving tours of our surgery center.”

The Lakewood Surgery Center staff was very excited for the opportunity to educate our guests about the advantages of day surgery in an ambulatory surgery center.  We pride ourselves on our ability to provide patients high-quality, cost-effective care and a convenient alternative to hospital-based outpatient procedures.  During the open house, attendees were given the chance to tour the operating rooms and see first-hand how relaxed, inviting and comforting our facility truly is.

We Go Above & Beyond for Our Patients!

In addition to our talented surgeons, our patients are also under the care of highly skilled nurses, surgical technologists and anesthesiologists.  From the moment you arrive until you are ready to go home, our goal is to provide the highest level of compassionate care in a comfortable environment.

For many patients, the prospect of having surgery can create feelings of anxiety.  Our goal is to ease our patients’ fears and help them overcome their apprehension.  Recently, our nursing staff went completely above and beyond the call of duty to ease the extreme fears of a particularly nervous patient.  BreAnn Jordan recounts the work of our amazing surgery center nursing staff:

“The patient has a history of waking up from anesthesia tearful and inconsolable [and her] mother had passed away following a surgical procedure.  Needless to say, the patient had extreme anxiety prior to her procedure.  The patient’s one request was to have her dad at the bedside when she woke up after surgery.  The [nursing staff] let her know typically [it] is not our process to have family at the bedside before the patient was awake, but that they would do their best.  Patient states when she woke up her father’s face was the first thing she saw, and all fears went away.  She is recovering wonderfully and wanted the nurses to be recognized for going ABOVE and BEYOND!”

If you missed the opportunity to visit our Open House and Health Fair, please feel free to stop by the LSC!  Our friendly staff is always available to answer any questions you may have about same-day surgery.
