How Does Puget Sound Orthopaedics Celebrate Their Employees?
At Puget Sound Orthopaedics, our commitment to high quality care is extended not only to our patients, but also to our amazing staff! To recognize achievement and show appreciation for our hard working employees, we have formed the Employee Event Committee.
Promoting Togetherness & Recognition of Achievement
The Employee Event Committee is comprised of 18 members who come together monthly to discuss ideas and plan events. Every department within the organization is represented by a committee member. The committee’s purpose is to engage employees, recognize achievement and promote a strong, healthy company culture.
Committee Chair Amy Isaksen says, “Our Event Committee hosts and funds events dedicated to our staff and their families. We all work hard every day to make the facility the amazing place it is. Having days like this allows us to all come together and appreciate everyone.”
Having Fun in the Clinic or Out
We celebrate each department, most holidays, and annual appreciation days all right here in the clinic. We also invite employees to show their Seahawks and Mariners pride with Blue Fridays and Mariners Fridays! To kick off each season, we have our annual Tailgate Potluck. What better way to connect with your co-workers than by gathering around delicious food? Employees are invited to bring their favorite dish to share and celebrate our Seattle sports pride. There’s also a Valentine’s Day Dessert Bar, a St. Patrick’s Day Green Potluck, two BBQs to celebrate the arrival of summer, and a Halloween Dessert Bar with a costume contest.
To celebrate Employee Appreciation Day and Doctor Appreciation Day, the Employee Event Committee plans a special, catered lunch at each clinic location. As an extra special treat on their official day of appreciation, all staff members receive a gift (often branded with the PSO logo). If you look around our clinic, you will see PSO mugs, water bottles, pens and t-shirts; our employees love to show their PSO pride!
Twice a year, we like to get out of the office and enjoy Tacoma. Our Summer Event is typically a fun night at a Rainiers game. Every year our staff looks forward to spending a night with our co-workers and our families enjoying food and the ball game.
We wrap up the year with our annual Holiday Event. In the past, we’ve gathered at the Tacoma Glass Museum and the LeMay Car Museum. Employees and their spouses are invited to come together for a nice meal. Throughout the event, we celebrate a job well done and another amazing year at PSO!
Promoting an Inclusive, Caring Culture
Michele Falsetta, Authorization Coordinator and Surgery Scheduler, explains why she’s on the committee that serves her fellow employees, “There are three reasons: 1) It’s incredible to help give back to the company and community, 2) It allows me to work with and get to know employees from other locations and departments, and 3) The involvement and learning keeps me in tune with outside cultures and diversity.”
The Employee Event Committee works hard all year to remind our hardworking staff and medical providers that they are appreciated by their patients, their co-workers and their community.
When you walk through our doors, you immediately know you’re in an inclusive, caring atmosphere. Why? Because employees who are cared for and valued show that same care to our patients! You’ll see this level of care and dedication every time you come through our doors. If you have an injury and need to make an appointment, give us a call at (253)582-7257.
